"Twilight Embers"
by Fred Buchwitz

Twilight Embers

The sun has finally melted behind the mountains, leaving only traces of violet in the evening sky. The full moon shines brightly in its place, illuminating the snow-covered mountains with a gentle white light. The mountains, in turn, light up their surroundings by mirroring their majesty into a nearby lake. A deer, wandering through the growing shadows, notices its reflection in the silver waters and pauses a while to admire. The crackling song of a fire and the quiet murmur of voices in a cabin close by momentarily arrests the deer's attention and fixes its gaze upon the fire's light dancing and flickering on the surface of the towering twilight embers.
